- Students are assigned a faculty advisor once they have declared the major. Full-time faculty members in the Department of Geology & Environmental Geosciences serve as undergraduate advisors. Geology & Environmental Geosciences majors have a mandatory advising hold and are required meet with their major advisors each semester to discuss scheduling, degree audits, networking opportunities, careers and graduate school planning, and other topics of interest. Semesterly advising holds will be lifted after a student has met with their advisor. Students are strongly encouraged to schedule an advising meeting prior to their registration date.

- Review your Program of Study Guide and available special topics and elective courses each semester prior to your advising appointment.

- Students are expected to check their College of Charleston official email on a frequent and consistent basis in order to remain informed of department related communications. Checking email on a daily basis is recommended. Students have the responsibility to recognize that certain communications may be time-critical.
